Welcome back!

All the major media networks are covering the Swine Flu like it’s the next bubonic plague. It’s sickening. Not only that; people are talking out it like it’s a legit reason to worry.

The truth is you have a 1 in 7.6 million chance to catch this type of flu (as of this post only 40 cases in the USA). You have a better chance on winning 10 Olympic Gold metals than getting this Flu.

Do you have 10 Gold Metals from the Olympics? Well, then. Thank you Michael Phelps for reading our blog. :D

Now, this is serious but the media is over-hyping this deadly flu. It’s causing panic for no! good! reason!!! There are many things the media could talk about instead they like to give 24 hour coverage on something that is only affecting 40 people in the USA right now.

If you have flu-like symptoms then, you might want to get checked by the doctor to see, if your one of the rare people that have the Swine Flu but what about your website? Does it have Swine Flu SEO?

What is Swine Flu SEO? I call it something that is killing your ranking and is still spreading throughout the design community. Although this issue might become less of a factor over the next few months/years, it’s currently a major issue for blocking your website from ranking higher in Google/Yahoo/MSN.

Simply put. Swine Flu SEO is coding your website in Flash, iFrames, Silverlight, and/or using Bitmap images. These technologies are still difficult for search engines to grasp. I know that there has been some evolution with Flash and SEO but search engines have a long way to go before “it doesn’t matter how you code the website.

For now, it does matter. Would you rather see 80 visitors to your website or 120 visitors to your website? 120, duh. Well, at the very least, I believe that is the difference you’ll see when you choose to code your website using iFrames, Flash, Silverlight, or Bitmap images. You’ll lose 1/3 of your rankings by using these four Swine Flu SEO techniques. Not only that, people will get frustrated when you attract links because they can’t link directly to what they are talking about.

So, get your Swine Flu vaccine and code your website in html, asp, php and use javascript and ajax sparingly. Have fun coding healthy website!!! :)

If your not confident in your coding skills. Give me a call (727.366.6474) and/or email (joshua@refugedesign.org) and I’ll give your website a Swine Flu SEO vaccine. :P
