Since latest August of this year, over 56,000 layoffs have occurred according to TechCrunch but I think it’s much more than what they’ve listed in this chart below.

Reasons why the recession is worse:

1. They start the recession in late august (only 2 months ago) when it started in April (8 months ago)
One legit reason that the technology sector has been hit harder than what TechCrunch has mentioned is they are based on the reasoning that the ‘recession just started‘ when we are smack dab in the middle of it. A recession is defined by 2 consecutive quarters of decline. That started in April, if you base it on the Dow Jones, Stock Market.
2. They say only 42 layoff’s for Ebay (on the chart)
Even the first comment on TechCrunch state this incorrect information, it is folks! Ebay actually laid off 1,000 full-time workers.
3. It doesn’t include Google’s 10,000 layoffs
By trimming ‘operational expenses’ Google has laid off over 10,000 workers without being noticed.
4. It doesn’t have Double-Click’s 15% layoffs
5. It’s missing 1,500 jobs that were cut from Yahoo.
[Postscript: TC did add this but to their later entry.]
