Welcome back!

I came across a half-way decent blog post and would like to share some gems I drew out of it.

3 Incorrect ways:

  1. Non-personal
  2. No link to website
  3. Rebuttaling (No means no)

2 Correct Ways:

  1. Personal (be more specific than just their name)
  2. Soft sell if they say no (can I send you updates?)

I would also add other opt-in’s on the email because although you have one purpose/goal in your email marketing campaign, the receiver might like one of your other lists.

Email marketing is typically being specific and knowing your target but if you box things in too much, your missing future leads and other potential clients.  So, in your ‘p.s.’ or ‘p.p.s.’ area say “If you like x widgets instead of a widgets, join our community there.” Your target is ‘a’ not ‘x’ but offering ‘x’ as an alternative is a great way to tighten up loose ends.
